The Turn of the Strongholds , is one of the last vestiges of the feudal Château of Sancerre.

Sancerre had, with the Middle Ages, one of the strongest castles of France. The Turn of the Strongholds , one of the last vestiges of the castle of the Counts de Sancerre, is a cylindrical keep, dating from the end of the XIVe century, located at the top of the hill. Flanked of a stone staircase in spiral, it shelters at the ground floor a private museum concealing armours and balls, witnesses of the period of the seat of 1573. On the 1st floor a vault of the is XVIIIe century. The castle of the counts de Sancerre and the ramparts of the city were demolished in 1621.

The ruins of the feudal castle are occupied today by a private mansion built in 1874 for Miss de Crussol d' Uzès. The hotel of style Louis XII and the private park, are the property of the Marnier-Lapostolle Company today.
