The turn of transmission of Žižkov (in Czech Žižkovská televizní věž ) was built with Prague between 1985 and 1992, according to the plans of the architect Václav Aulický. Its silhouette takes shape above Prague, because it was built on a hillock of the district of Žižkov, from which it draws its name.

Characteristics

The tower is an example of Architecture high-tech. Reputation

As much of examples of communist architecture in Central Europe and the East, the tower of television is generally badly perceived by Pragois. One showed the project to have made move the Jewish cemetery of Žižkov in the vicinity to be able to install it. Officially, it is affirmed that the cemetery had already been moved before and that the place was free, when the tower was built. The tower of " was also shown; gâcher" the horizon pragois while being the monument highest of the city.

Rumors also ran, during the communist era, showing the tower to scramble the transmissions of Radio Free Europe, or to have helped the transmissions between the forces of the Warsaw Pact in the event of an attack of NATO.

For all these reasons, the Czechs are often surprised that the tower attracts as many foreign tourists.
