The turn Granite is currently a Gratte-ciel of offices in construction close to the district of businesses of Defense, in France. It is located more precisely at Nanterre, on the perimeter of the Opération of national interest Seine-Arch, just with the limit of the district of Defense 7.
The Granite tower must be delivered for October 2008 ; it 183 m will be high, which will make of it the fourth the highest tower of Defense to its delivery (after the turns Total, T1 and Areva).
Ordered by the General society and entrusted to a company of promotion associating Nexity and Vinci, it will be drawn up vis-a-vis the Tours General society, whose capacities are insufficient. Like these last, the Granite tower will have a largely tilted roof. The Granite tower which must be added to the two existing towers of the General society (Chassagne and Alicante) will have a height of 183 Mr. Longtemps announced with a 230 m height, the project of the architect Christian de Portzamparc had to re-examine its copy, at the request of the General society because of the attacks of September 11th, 2001, in the United States. Work began at the beginning of 2005 in spite of the many delays. With before tower in the shape of prow of boat, the Granite tower will face the town of Nanterre. A footbridge will connect Granite to Chassagne and Alicante. The Granite tower will benefit in particular from technologies allowing the energy saving.
The Tour T1 is currently also in construction with Defense.
