Turn-in-Jarez
Turn-in-Jarez is a common French, located in the department of the the Loire and the area the Rhone-Alps.
Geography
Located at the North of Saint-Etienne, the Tower in Jarez is composed of a center-borough fixed on a hillock dominating the neighborhoods.The commune is limited to North by Saint-Héand, in the west by Etrat, the South by St Priest in Jarez and St Etienne and in the east by Talaudière and Sorbiers.
History
- the Ségusiaves, Celts come from the low plains of the Plank and Jutland, were installed on this rock buttress to the VI E century before our era, then were replaced to the II E century before J.C by Eduens, of similar origin.

the Roman presence, after the defeat of Vercingétorix against Jules César, also appeared with the Tower.

the martyrdom of Saint Ironwood, died into 304 quoted for the first time the name of the small river which sprinkles the country of Jarez: " Jaris". This name gave at the same time the word Jarez and Gier. The name of the " Turn-in-Jarez" (Turris in Jaresio), appeared for the first time in a charter of 1167 container the homage of the account Guy II to Louis VII, Saint-Chamond, Turn-in-Jarez and Chamousset.

Various food shortages and famines touched the commune, in winter 1693 - 1694 and in 1709 and 1789.
- on February 28th, 1862, the new limits of Turn-in-Jarez were decided and a law authorizing the extension of the village. The commune increases then of 984 hectares and 700 inhabitants approximately.
- In 1884 the Tower in Jarez yields part of its territory which will become Étrat.
