Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines , in Turkish, Türk Cut Yolları . (Code AITA: TK ; Code ICAO: THY ) is the Turkish Airline company national.

History

  • May 20th 1933: the company was founded under law 2186 in Ankara under the name of State Airlines Administration. The company has at this time a fleet of King Air, 2 F-13 Junkers and a ATH-9.
  • 1935 : the company passes under the ministry for the public affairs.
  • 1938 : the name of the company changes to be General Directorate off State Airlines.

  • 1945 : the DC-3 is introduced into the fleet.
  • 1947 : first Ankara-Istanbul-Athène international flight.
  • May 1st 1956: the company takes the name of Türk Hava Yollari/Turkish Airlines.
  • 1958 - 1960: F-27 and Vickers Viscount join the fleet.
  • 1967 : first Jet aircraft in the fleet, the DC-9.
  • 1971 : first 707 in the fleet.
  • 1973 : F-27 is replaced by F-28 and the DC-10 joined the fleet.
  • 1974 : B727 joint in its turn with the Turkish fleet.
  • 1984 : the company is regarded as " STATE ECONOMIC ENTERPRISE" and its capital increases to 60 billion will read Turkish.
  • 1985 : A310 is introduced.
  • Situation in 2007: The company has a fleet of: 7 A340, 7 A310, 1 A310F, 41 B737-800, 11 B737-400, 12 A321, 16 A320, 2 A319, 5 A330. Total: 101 apparatuses.
