Turkey in the straw
" Turkey in the Straw " is a traditional song American dating from the beginning of the 19th century. The song was popularized at the end of the Années 1820 and at the beginning of the Années 1830 by black singers, in particular George Washington Dixon, Bob Farrel and George Nichols.
Another song, Zip Coon uses the same rate/rhythm. This version was published for the first time between 1829 and 1834 at the same time in New York and Baltimore. The singers enumerated previously protest to have composed the song but the business was not solved and others are also sometimes credited like Daniel Decatur Emmett
