Tuor
Tuor is a character of J.R.R. Tolkien which appears in particular in Silmarillion and the unfinished Contes and legends .
Tuor is a large hero of the Third house of the Edain, the only son of Huor and Rían. He is the cousin of Túrin Turambar.
His/her Huor father died at the time of the battle of Nirnaeth Arnoediad, right before the birth of his son, and Rían died two years later. Tuor was first of all raised by the Elfes of Mithrim, then captured by the Eastern ones which had been sent by Morgoth to oppress the house of Hador.
Tuor succeeds in escaping, and lived like an outlaw. The Vala Ulmo made him have a presentiment of to go to Gondolin to warn King Turgon things to come. In the ruins of Vinyamar, it found a weapon and an armor, and met Ulmo itself on the coast of Belegaer, which gave him the message to be given to Turgon, and sent an elf to him, Voronwë to guide it to the Hidden City.
Tuor and Voronwë arrived at Gondolin, where Tuor remained, and Maria with the girl of Turgon, Idril Celebrindal. It was the second union between Elfes and Human, after that of Beren and Lúthien. Their only son was Eärendil the sailor.
Tuor was one of the commanders de Gondolin at the time of the catch of the city by Morgoth, and with his wife, her son like some survivors of his people, escaped by the Bouches of Sirion.
Tuor sailed towards the West with Idril, and captions it which circulates at the Eldar and Edain is that they arrived at Valinor, in spite of the prohibition of Valar, and that Tuor is only Humain which was counted in the race of the Elves, and which he saw still there to date.
