Tunnel of Eiksund
The tunnel of Eiksund is a road tunnel in the course of construction close to Volda in the Comté of Møre og Romsdal in Norway. It will serve the municipalities of Herøy, Sande, Ulstein and Hareid is approximately 22.000 inhabitants.
The tunnel is 7.765 meters long and 287 meters under the sea level, it is the underwater tunnel deepest of the world. It was bored in May 2006 but will be opened with the traffic only during 2007. The whole of the project included a bridge of 405 meters and another tunnel of 1160 meters.
