The Tunisian Agency of Internet (rear RTL الوكالةالتونسيةللانترنت) (ATI), created the March 12th 1996, is the main thing Fournisseur of access to public Internet of Tunisia. It concerns the ministry for the communications and also has the role of promoting Internet in the country.

Since its creation, ATI was directed by women: Khadija Ghariani, Feriel Beji then Lamia Chaffai Sghaier starting from September 2007.

Functions

ATI has thus as a task to contribute to the installation of networks in various fields (Santé, education and Agriculture), to manage the domestic network, to manage the Domain name of Tunisia (.tn), to lodge Web sites and to organize formations and workshops.

Its customers are other service providers Internet (FSI), the public administrations, the organizations and official companies, the research centres, etc ATI can thus control the network in all the country because, except the public FSI (like Tunisia Télécom), the 5 private suppliers Planet Tunisia, 3S Global Net, HexaByte, Tunet and Topnet depend on it for the management of the network.

Charges of censure

According to Reporters without borders, Tunisia proceeds to Censure S of Web sites on the Tunisian network. In the number of Jeune Afrique appeared the June 27th 2004, Feriel Beji (administratice of ATI at the time) answers these charges of censure by declaring that “certain voices calumniate Tunisia by saying that Internet would be censured there. The truth, it is that we wish a good use of the network, so that this tool serf really with the people”.
