Tunis Stock Exchange

The Stock Exchange Tunis (rear RTL بورصةتونس), called Stock Exchange of the Transferable securities of Tunis since the November 15th 1995, is a purse based with Tunis (Tunisia). It is responsible for management, the safety and the promotion of the Tunisian market of the transferable securities. Its Actionnaire S is the companies of intermediation out of purse.

Its main thing Market index is TUNINDEX.

The creation of the purse goes back to 1969. Although this creation is relatively old, the role of the purse in the financing of the economy of Tunisia is remained limited even unimportant because of the prevalence of the State and the banks. Within the framework of the plan of structural adjustment, a reform of the financial market starts in 1988 with an aim of installing a legal framework making it possible the market to contribute to the financing of the economy. The deposits near the banks are taxed, the interest rate on the deposits drop following the fall of the rate of inflation and the saving in transferable securities is given a favorable taxation with the suppression of the taxation on the Plus-value S and on the Dividende S. the income tax of the companies also drops by 80% to 35%.

To reach the international standards, a reform is adopted with the promulgation of the law of the November 14th 1994 bearing reorganization of the financial market. This law creates the new public authority of regulation: the Council of the Financial market (which starts its activities on November 15th, 1995)
