Tulbagh

Tulbagh is a Commune of South Africa located in the province of the Cape-Westerner.

Tulbagh forms integral part of the local Municipalité of Witzenberg.

The valley of Tulbagh was inhabited a long time by Bushmen and Khoïkhoï. With the 17th sicèle, the first Dutch and French pioneers explored the valley and founded the village of Tulbagh.

The city developed slowly in the middle of an area devoted to the Viticulture, with the foot of the mountains of Winterhoek and Witzenberg.

In 1969, a Earthquake damaged Tulbagh deeply.

The central street of the city, church street, to date concentrates the greatest number of residences of the edwardien type, victorien and Dutch of the Cape (Wraps-dutch) incrits with the national heritage, of all the country
