Tugan Sokhiev

Tugan Sokhiev , born in 1977 with Vladikavkaz (Ossétie of North), is a Leader ossète.

It carries out its musical studies with the Conservatoire of Saint-Pétersbourg. Raise Iouri Temirkanov and Ilya Musin, it leaves graduate in 2001, having already gained (in 2000) the first price of the 3rd international Contest Prokofiev. He becomes principal chief of the Symphony orchestra of Russia and artistic director of the Philharmonic orchestra of Ossétie of North, stations which he occupies until the end of the season 2002 - 2003. He since directed the full orchestras (Philharmonic societies of London, of Munich, Stockholm, Oslo, Orchestre of Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Metropolitan Opera…).

Its beginnings are quickly noticed and criticism is particularly excellent for the first and third concertos for piano of Rachmaninov with Mikhail Pletnev, in November 2003, and for the Love of the three oranges of Prokofiev to the Festival of Aix-en-Provence, production which it gives again with the Large Theater of the town of Luxembourg in 2005 and with the Teatro Real of Madrid in 2006.

Its collaboration with the Théâtre Mariinsky begins with the voyage to Rheims , of Gioacchino Rossini, in December 2001. It goes back there in 2002 and 2003 for Eugene Onéguine of Tchaïkovski, then in 2004 for the same opera like the Cock of gold of Rimski-Korsakov, Iolanta of Tchaïkovski, Samson and Dalila of Saint-Saëns. It occurs since regularly with the Théâtre Mariinsky.

Tugan Sokhiev is also often invited to the head of the Philharmonia Orchestra that it directs successfully for the first time in August 2002. Over the season 2003-2004, it directs the National orchestra of Capitole of Toulouse, and in April 2005, it is named by the town of Toulouse first invited chief and musical adviser, nomination which it honors by a dozen with concerts with the Orchestra with Capitole over the season 2005-2006.
