Tubulidentata

The order of the tubulidentés ( Tubulidentata ) comprises only one family the oryctéropidés ( Orycteropodidae ) created for only one species: the oryctérope of the course ( Orycteropus afer ).

1m30, a very lengthened head ending in a face mask, it has large ears. Although it is a Fourmilier, the Mâchoire includes/understands some Molaire S. the feet are equipped with four fingers ahead and five behind which touch all the ground. They have strong claws which include the fingers, contrary to the claws of the others Mammifères, which places them in the group of the Ongulés.

The form very characteristic of the teeth gave its name to the group of which the oldest known fossils date from the Oligocene inferior. They are teeth in column with continuous growth, without enamel, made up of many hexagonal ivory prisms whose center is occupied by a channel pulpal. The teeth do not have roots.
