Tubular Bels II

Tubular Bells II (1992) is the fourteenth album of the British musician Mike Oldfield, and the first carried out for its new label of the time, Warner.

It is between Tubular bels (1973) and Tubular Bells II (1992) that the greatest amount of time ran out, almost twenty years, while the three following followed one another in ten years. Tubular Bells II is thus the first to make Tubular bels a series , in other words a continuation of variations forming a unit . The name of “ Tubular bels ” cease to indicate a particular album to indicate a kind.

Contrary to Tubular bels 2003 ten year later, Tubular bels II is not a simple reinterpretation of the first Tubular bels , but a different composition. And yet, one finds a structure rather near, and several of the topics of Tubular bels II present one striking relationship with those of Tubular bels , sometimes in the same order.

Tubular bels II thus exploits the report/ratio of relationship with the first Tubular bels , without never repeating it, nor completely to deviate some. This principle will be taken again a few years later by Jean Michel Jarre for the action pursuant which it will take to Oxygène.

Contrary to the album Amarok , where Mike Oldfield had made the choice present only one track on CD (only one index), Tubular Bells II is indexed of 14 pieces, whose sequences preserve the structure of Tubular Bells : the first seven connected pieces reconstitute a first part, the six following a second and Moonshine remains a detached epilog, pointing out the final one enjoué The Sailor' S Hornpipe of Tubular Bells .
