A tube indicates, in the field of the popular Musique of the industrialized countries, a Chanson or a piece of music having obtained a very great success (in English and in the majority of the countries, one employs the term ).

The term was launched by Boris Vian in the Années 1950, with the song the Tube , interpreted by Henri Salvador, at the same time as Saucisson to indicate a disc, without this one specifying if he were the inventor of these designations or not. The word left the circle of the professionals of the sound only in the Années 1960. Saucisson had less success, except at the time of the short tube Saucisson of horse of Boby Lapointe.

Certain tubes launch artists durably ( Sultans off swing Dire Straits, for example). Others represent successes without a future ( Each one done which it likes , Because of the boys , etc). It should be noted that in English the term indicates these successes without a future.
