Tubac

Tubac is a village of the county of Santa Cruz in the Arizona with the the United States. It counted 949 inhabitants in 2000. This name comes from the original name in language O' odham (language of the Indians Papago (Tohono) and Pima (Akimel) ) Co: wak , which means rotted . Tubac is located along the Santa Cruz River.

History

In 1752, in order to come to end from a revolt from the Indians Pima S, the Viceroy of News-Spain, Juan Francisco de Güemes there Horcasitas, made there build a Presidio. Tubac becomes a halt on El Camino Real (the " Road royale") who leads Mexico City to the Spanish colonies of settlement of California.
