Tsunayoshi Tokugawa

Tsunayoshi Tokugawa (徳川綱吉 Tokugawa Tsunayoshi , February 23rd, 1646 - February 19th, 1709) is the 5th Shogun shogunat Tokugawa with the Japan. It succeeded his Ietsuna brother (all 2 were the wire of the 3rd shogun, Iemitsu).

During its reign (1680-1709), he was the defender of the Néo-Confucianisme of Chu Hsi. Later, it was made the defender of the animals, in particular the dogs, surely due to the fact that it had been born in the year from the dog from the Chinese Calendrier. In 1687, it promulga the law “Shorui Awaremi No Rei” (生類憐みの令), an order prohibiting to cut down animals and establishes a person in charge of animal protection; later, it made install mangers for more than 100.000 dogs. All these laws made that it was known under the name of “shogun dog” " (Inu kubô).

Tsunayoshi named Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa with the head of the administration.

The nephew of Tsunayoshi, Ienobu, became shogun with dead of this one in 1709.
