Truchtersheim

Truchtersheim is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace. Since July 15th, 1974, the commune is amalgamated with the old commune of Behlenheim.

Geography

Located in the Kochersberg at the North-West of the agglomeration of Strasbourg, the commune is bordered in the west by the brook of Avenheim.

Reitwiller in the North-East, Pfettisheim in the east, Behlenheim and Wiwersheim in the south and Kleinfrankenheim in the west.

History

The name of Truchtersheim is of origin Celte and wants to say “small residence”. The name was then germanisé by the addition of the suffix " heim". It was evoked the first time into 900. The initial village is located at the center of the village at the current place of the market and the street of the crown.
