Trouw

Trouw is a Dutch newspaper with national circulation. It is published in Amsterdam every business day. Pulling is approximately 105.000 specimens.

The Trouw newspaper is resulting from Protestant resistance during the second world war. The first publication date is on February 18th, 1943 under the name of Oranje Bode (Orange Messenger, the royal surname).

The German occupants regard Trouw as a provocative work . During the occupation a few tens of the distributers and printers were stopped whose score found death.

The first editor association is Mr. S. Bruins Slot. He was the leader of the party anti-revolutionist in the Parliament in $the Hague. During 20 years he was opposed with enthusiasm to the decolonization of Indonesia. He left the direction of the newspaper in 1971. During its last years the newspaper was transformed of an orthodoxe Protestant newspaper and conservative into an oecumenical and modern newspaper. In 1975 Trouw was affiliated with PCM Uitgevers N.V., the editor of the Volkskrant and Parool, two other newspapers with national circulation. Among the daily newspapers of Trouw quality is characterized now by its attention for philosophy and the religion.
