Tropical storm Chris (2006)
The tropical storm Chris is the 3rd Tropical storm of the cyclone season 2006 for the basin of the Atlantic Ocean. The name Chris had been used already in 1982,1988,1994 and 2000.
Chronology
In the last week of July 2006, a tropical Onde marked left the African coast and derived slowly towards the west. Being given the presence of very dry air coming from the Saharan desert , it could not develop before the July 31st.Late on July 31st, the wave was organized in Tropical depression. Early it, the depression reached the intensity of Tropical storm, that the Tropical Prediction Center indicated under the name of Chris .
It moved towards the North-West, skirting the arc of the Lesser Antilles, and intensified gradually. The August 2nd, its intensity reached a maximum with supported winds with 100 km/h (65 Mi/h), in the North-East of the United States Virgin Islands.
NHC considered plausible an intensification in hurricane by reaching the the Bahamas, but Chris was affected by shearing winds and was disorganized. The August 4th, the tropical storm was retrogressed with the row of Tropical depression, then early the August 5th 2006, approaching the innate coasts Cuba, the Nuage S convectifs were dissipated, leaving a simple hollow.
