Synopsis
Keng, a young soldier, and Tong, a boy of the countryside, are in love. Together, they lead a quiet life organizing itself around walks downtown and of the softness of the days to the skirt of forest. One day, Tong disappears and several animals from the herds of the area in their turn. An old local legend said that sometimes, a man can be transformed into a wild beast. Keng decides to leave to its research to the hollow a luxuriant and worrying forest…

After Blissfully Yours and before Syndromes and has Century , Tropical malady is the second shutter of a trilogy that the realizer Apichatpong Weerasethakul devotes to what touches it, here itself, his sexuality and his fears.The film is cut in two opposite parts: between a quiet and calm passing fancy, then anguish of Keng isolated in the jungle which drives out a wild beast whereas Tong disappeared after their last meeting. The magazine Télérama is questioned: “Of the two shutters of the diptych, fascinating from beginning to end, which is lived by the protagonists, which east is delirious? ”
According to the realizer in a maintenance of 2007, the first part is the present vis-a-vis the second which is the past “when my lover left”.
