Trophy of the Legends

The Trophée of the Legends is a tournament putting at the catches old glories tennis, organized since 1998 during the second week of Roland-Garros. It was created on the initiative of Mansour Bahrami in 1997.

This test is particularly appreciated of the public, because it makes it possible to find on the courts of the players of various generations which made the most beautiful hours of tennis, in an at the same time competitive and relaxed environment.

Formulate test

Two competitions are organized in parallel, one for the old champions from 35 to 45 years, the other for those of more than 45 years (the barrier between the two competitions was at 50 years until in 2000).

Each test brings together 6 teams of double, divided into two hens of three. The winners of each hen clash then finally.

Rules

All the meetings are played best of the two sets, with tie break in each set. In the event of equality with a sleeve everywhere, one disputes a “match tie break” (the first at 10 points with 2 points of variation).

To shorten the matches, one also observes the rule of “No AD” (not of advantage, i.e. with 40A, the following point is decisive and the team which receives has the right to choose the side of service).

The players also have the right to sit down between each play, contrary to the professional rule which authorizes it all the two plays.
