Trophy BPE

The trophy BPE was created in 2001 by François-Xavier Dehaye and its company Match Racing and the support of the town of Saint-Nazaire.

The race proceeds every two years and is based on the Monotypie in fact Figaro Bénéteau. For the editions of 2001 and 2003, it will be a race in double, a race as a recluse as from 2005.

First editions

In 2001, the departure with place of Saint-Nazaire towards Dakar, with a Stopover with Oporto-Santo with Madeira. Twelve crews were registered for this first edition. The race is gained by Gildas Morvan and Charles Caudrelier over Green Cercle , in 16 days.

In 2003, new the monotype Figaro Bénéteau 2 is used. 18 boats are registered for this second edition whose way will be identical to the first. Bertrand of Pitcher and Dominic Vittet gain the test over Myrialis preceding Green Cercle Gildas Morvan and Bertrand Pacé.

In 2005, the race becomes a Transatlantique in Solitaire. The way, always leaving Saint-Nazaire, will go this time to Cienfuegos of Cuba. Principal the Sponsor S remains the European Private banking, the Groupe AG 2R Prévoyance and the Town of Saint-Nazaire. This edition will include/understand 12 boats. The victory will return to Maritime-Zerotwo Crédit in front of Bostik and Green Cercle , in 25 days.

The edition 2007

In 2007, while taking as a starting point the song of Laurent Voulzy " Beautiful-island at sea, gallant Marie " , the transatlantic race will go from Belle-Île-en-Mer to Marie-Gallant in Guadeloupe. This fourth trophy organized by the company Racing Match, subsidiary of PEN Duick SAS, is sponsored by the European Private banking, Belle-Île-en-Mer, the community of communes of Marie-Gallant, the District councils of Brittany and Guadeloupe, the General advice of Morbihan. 27 participants were registered.

The departure of the race was the occasion of festivities organized around the twinning of the two islands.

A prolog, organized along the coasts of the island, the Challenge Canning facility Beautiful-Iloise the , at summer gained by Charles Caudrelier.
