Trophic Type

The trophic term standard specifies the way in which an organization constitutes its own organic matter ( trophic drift of the Greek verb θροφη , “action to nourish”).

To synthesize organic matter, an living being needs:

of a source of carbon,
of a deaf person of energy,
of a source of reduction.

Fundamental trophic types

According to the source of carbon:

Autotrophie : mineral source of carbon
Heterotrophism: organic source of carbon

According to the energy source:

Phototrophie : physical energy source
Chimiotrophie: chemical energy source

According to the source of reduction:

Lithotrophie : source of reduction mineral
Organotrophie: source of reduction organic
