The trophallaxie is a mode of transfer of food, used by certain insects.

The working Fourmis have two stomachs. When one of them ingurgite of the Food, the major part of this one is stored in the second stomach, the social Jabot, also called social stomach .

The trophallaxie consists of a regurgitation of the pre-digested food contained in this last in order to nourish other ants. This Transfert does not relate to exclusively the food but also makes it possible to make circulate information in the colony via chemical messages (Phéromone S).

The trophallaxie also exists at the bee and the majority of the social insects.
