Trochilinae

The Trochilinae form one of hummingbird. The sexual Dimorphisme is important in this subfamily: males being coloured more than the females. The distinction of the species in the males is simple thanks to the clear differences in coloring. In the females or the Phaethornithinae , the length and the shape of the nozzle as their songs are more precise indices to recognize the species. The imitation of the females is on the other hand more powerful.

Their standardized names of CINFO are composed starting from the terms Colibri, Porte-lance, Campyloptère, mango, Coquette, emerald, dryade, sapphire, ARIANE, shining, INCA, Héliange, érione, High-of-fit, Porte-traîne, Métallure, sylph and Loddigésie.
