Trivelin is one of the most famous types of the Commedia dell' arte.
Approaching all at the same time Harlequin, of Scapin, Brighella, Mezzetin, Trivelin represents, like them all, an astute, intrigant, spiritual servant and crafty one.

This character was introduced in France by an actor of great talent, Domenico Locatelli, which came to Paris towards 1645 and died there in 1671, and whose Parfaict brothers wrote that “As one is unaware of completely the private life of this actor, it is necessary to be satisfied to know by the tradition which Locatelli was excellent in the kind that it avoit adopted with the theater, that this kind étoit that of one intrigant spiritual, sometimes servant and sometimes adventurer, that it jouoit under the dress and the mask of Harlequin, but that it portoit not of beater, like this last. ”
