Tripoints international
General information
On the 195 country of the world generally recognized, 134 have at least a tripoint. The others are insular countries (like the Japan), bordering one country (like the Portugal) or by bordering two which does not meet (like the the United States). With current frontier cutting, any country having at least three neighbors has a tripoint. Some fragments detached from a country can lead to one or more tripoints aditionnels (like the Nakhitchevan in Azerbaïdjan or the Cabinda in Angola). Other countries can be completely surrounded by two neighbors, which leads to two tripoints distinct between the same States (like Andorre, the Liechtenstein or the Mongolia).
Moreover, three entities with disputed sovereignty (Gaza Strip, the West Bank and the Western Sahara) have one or more tripoints with some their neighbors. By including them in the total, the world counts 157 tripoints.
The China is the country which counts the most tripoints, that is to say 15. The number of tripoints of a country is not inevitably related to the length of its borders; the Austria, for example, account 9 tripoints, only one of less than the Russia, for borders 8 times less long.
