Among the limicolous birds (alive in the mud of the marshes) the family of the Scolopacidae comprises species belonging to the kinds Actitis and Tringa , named commonly knights , most frequently met being the Redshank ( Tringa totanus ), the Chevalier guignette ( Actitis hypoleucos ) and the Chevalier wheatear ( Tringa ochropus ).
