Trimaran

A trimaran is a Bateau with Three hulls: 2 floats located on both sides of a central hull bulkier but deprived of skittle. Gréement is located on the central hull. The floats are connected to the central hull by arms of connection which can be simple beams or be partly livable. The anti-drift plans are generally located on the floats. This type of boat is mainly used for the pleasure and the race with the veil.

This formula brings a certain safety in navigation compared to that of the catamaran: when the wind forcit, the float under the wind is inserted by slowing down the progression and one needs surtoiler this type of sailing ship to manage to take off the central hull. If upsetting is not excluded on the machines from race, it is much less frequent than on the catamarans.

The formula trimaran is however much less widespread than that of the catamaran: for a sailing ship intended for cruising, the formula of the trimaran is much more complex and thus expensive to build, the obstruction (width) is definitely higher - the formula of the folding floats applied to models of average cuts adding to the overcost -, and its habitability is much lower even while making the arms tenantable.

Contrary the trimaran is much more widespread in the world of the race to the veil, indeed the trimaran is more evolutionary than the catamaran and its performances are appreciably better, in particular with close and in the weak winds and médiums.
