Trillium ludovicianum is a herbaceous, long-lived and rhizomateuse plant of the family of the Liliaceae (traditional Classification) or Melanthiaceae (Classification APG II, 2003).
Description
This plant of the south-east of the United States flowers in spring in the forests of slope along the rivers. The petals from 3 to 5 cm are green, purple or two-tone. The sheets ovals-lancéolées have spots often very decorative. The fruit is a purple bay.
Surface of distribution
Center of the Mississippi and Louisiana.
