Triel-sur-Seine

Triel-sur-Seine is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, located at approximately 12 km in the North-West of Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer.

Its inhabitants is called the Triellois and Trielloises .

Twin towns

Triel is twinned with common allemande of Seligenstadt since September 9th, 1967 and with the English city of Leatherhead since 2007.

Geography

Triel is in edge of the Seine, on Right Bank of the Fleuve, leant with the heights of Hautil.

The commune is bordering on the Be worth-on-Seine in the west, Chanteloup-the-Vines and Carrières-sous-Poissy in the east and on Jouy-le-Moutier and Maurecourt in north. In the south and the west, it is separated by the Seine from Verneuil-sur-Seine, Vernouillet and Médan.

The communal territory includes a island of the Seine, the island of Hernières, and also includes/understands a strip of land on opposite bank.

Triel-sur-Seine is served by the railway line Paris-Saint-Lazare - Mantes-the-Pretty via Conflans-Holy-Honorine (Gare of Triel-sur-Seine). A road Pont connects Triel to Vernouillet. In the south of the commune, a new viaduct with twice two ways, inaugurated on September 11th, 2003, fits in a by-pass connecting the road axes of Right Bank and left bank of the Seine.

The intersection of the 49e parallel northern and the 2nd Méridien in the east of Greenwich is on the territory of the commune (see also the Degree Junction Project ).

History

In the past “ Triellum ”, Latin name drawn from the existence of the three islands on the Seine at the place where a Roman way crossed the river. City in 1221 in a charter of Philippe-Auguste granting Triel the statute of freed city. Fine appointment XVIIIe in the house of the adviser of the king Parnajon, famous men of which Treilhard, one of the writers of the Civil code French, the moralist Chamfort, the sculptor Houdon. Economy

The commune of Triel-sur-Seine is primarily residential. On both sides of the Street Paul Doumer, in the center of the city, one however finds some trade, of which the number is declining years by years. The traditional shops leave little by little place to banks and agencies immobilères, when it are not quite simply left vacant. Some charge the responsibility for this phenomenon to the incapacity of the local authorities to make the city gravitational, of other with recent (2001) the establishment of a small supermarket in the center town.

The festival of the blank takes place each year in edge of the Seine. It is about an vacuum-attic organized by the town hall the last weekend of September. Bakeries of the city have on this occasion several stand on which it is possible to consume blank. The city entered Guiness Book of the records there is ten year, to have realized of larger blank in the world. Consequently, this pastry making became the mascot of the event.
