Triduum

The Triduum (literally “three days”), extends to the three days from Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter during which the Church celebrates Passion, the Mort and the Résurrection of Jesus.

The Maundy Thursday points out the celebration of the Jewish Passover and the Christian celebration of the Cène as well as the rectal injection of the feet, pointing out the ministry for the service, or diaconie.

The Good Friday is the birthday of died of Jesus. In the Catholic church, the Eucharistie is not celebrated any more until Sunday. The stress is laid on the Liturgie of the Word with the reading of the account of Passion and of the Psaumes which announced the pain of Jesus.

The vigil of Easter, normally celebrated after to lay down it Sun Easter Saturday, is the culminating point of the Triduum , when the Église starts to celebrate the light of the Résurrection. The Triduum finishes Easter Sunday, but the celebration continues during all the time Easter.
