Tribann

The Tribann is the specific emblem of the movement neo-druidic of Welsh filiation, it is appeared as three features ( round of applause means ray in Breton) convergent on a high point: /|\ .

This symbol, definitely solar, represents a ternary principle. One finds it on the banners and on clothing of the néo-druids or it can mean amongst other things: love, knowledge and truth or love, peace and wisdom for each feature. Another interpretation wants that it represents the three paramount letters (O I W) of the name of God or “Incréé”, who would have created the world by pronouncing his own name. The triads being usual in the Celtic world, it is possible to allot other ternary significances to him. Inserted in a “cosmic egg”, it is judicious to represent the function (néo-) druidic. A negative or malefic connotation is sometimes conferred on Tribann reversed ( \|/).

It should be noted that Tribann falls under the contemporary context of the Christianisme and not of the ancient druidism, it is thus unknown in the Celtic Mythologie of the Antiquité, as well on the level of the texts as of the graphic reasons for the Celtic Art.

Foot-note : Tribann neo-druidic should not be confused with the Triban , old logo of the Welsh National Party, the Plaid Cymru and which represents the mountains of the Wales.
