The Tri Nations Series is a tournament of Rugby to XV which puts at the catches since 1996 the 3 major nations of the southern hemisphere, namely the Australia, the New Zealand and the South Africa. The Argentinian and the Pacific Islanders recently required to integrate the Tri-nations which would then become a Tournoi of the 5 nations of the southern hemisphere .
Competition
Participating teams
This competition organized by SANZAR, a consortium formed by the national federations of the 3 countries: South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.Discussions are in hand so that the team of Argentina joins the competition. That could be made after one four years preparatory period, that is to say in 2012.
Course of the competition
The competition proceeds in the form of a championship. Of 1996 with 2005, the teams met in matches return ticket (4 matches per team). In 2006, the three nations meet 3 times (6 matches per team). The matches between the Australian and the Néo-Zélandais within the framework of this competition also determine the winner of the Bledisloe Cup, competition historical between these 2 countries.
Deduct points
The calculation of the points is the following:- 4 points for a victory
- 2 points for no one
- 0 for a defeat
Points of no-claims bonus are also distributed:
- 1 additional point for at least 4 tests marked in the same match
- 1 additional point for a team which loses per less than 7 points.
In the event of equality, the difference in points is used. If the equality persists, the number of marked tests is then used.
