Geographical location
The district of Euskirchen ( Kreis Euskirchen ) is located in Eiffel at the south-west of the Land of Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia. It has limits with the districts of Aachen, of Düren, with the district of the the Rhine-Erft and the district of the the Rhine-Sieg like to the districts rhénano-palatiens of Ahrweiler, Daun and Bitburg-Prüm and with the Belgian province of Liege.
History
The district of Euskirchen was creates on January 1st, 1972 by law of December 14th, 1971 by amalgamating the old districts of Euskirchen and Schleiden. January 1st, 1975 by law of November 5th, 1974 the town of Erftstadt was separated from the district and was incorporated in the new district of Erft.
