Trenitalia is a Railway company Italy, subsidiary company with 100% of the group of State FS (Ferrovie dello Stato). It was born on June 1st 2000 from a reorganization of the group FS which filialisé its main activities to respect obligation of the legal and organic separation of the lines of business of Transport (travellers and goods) of that of management of the network, imposed by the EU law.
The company restored its accounts as of the year 2002, finishing the first exercise of the new business with a Bénéfice of 30 million euros (for a total Turnover of 5,114 billion euros, including 2,842 commercial billion recttes and 1,746 billion contributions of the State and areas within the framework of the “contracts of service” (missions of Public service).
Trenitalia is organized in four great divisions:
In 2004 Trenitalia S.p.A. had of a manpower of 56.000 paid (the Group Ferrovie dello Stato S.p.A. counted to the maximum of 235.000 paid in 1980) and a fleet of 63.000 travelling machines.
The average day laborer of the transported people is of 1,5 million passengers and 250.000 tons of goods.
The turnover corresponding was of more than 4 billion euros.
The ways of long distances are ensured by oars at high speed ETR 500 - ETR 480 and 460, but also by traditional express trains.
At the end of the the Nineties Trenitalia launched an important investment campaign for the acquisition of rolling stocks of new generation like the oars ETR 500.
At the same time the new E464 engines made their appearance on the fast convoys.

In 2003, division cargo liner transported 82,5 22,6 billion and ton million ton-kilometers (tk). It is organized in six branches of industry:
