Trenčín
Trenčín (German Trentschin , Hungarian Trencsén ) is an important urban center of the North-West of the Slovakia. The city has 57.000 inhabitants.
History
The city is the site of a Roman Camp at the time of Marc-Aurèle (2nd century). A Roman inscription makes it possible to date construction from the wars against Marcomans, in 179, and to know its Latin name, Laugaricio (Victoriae Augustorum exercitus, which Laugaricione sedit, millet (ites) L (egiones) II DCCCLV (855 of the second Legion). (Maximi) anus leg (atus leg) ionis II AD (iutricis) cur (avit) F (aciendum). It is the most septentrional point of the Roman projection in Central Europe. Trencin is called of its Greek name Leukaristos by Ptolémée (towards 150).
