Treaty of Vienna (1738)

The treated of Vienna of the November 18th 1738 puts an end to the War of succession of Poland.

Austria, overcome, request the peace, whose preliminaries are signed in Vienna in 1735, three years before the final treaty, third treaty of Vienna.

The preliminary articles of 1735 are followed of a signed free-Austrian convention to Vienna on August 28th 1736 relating to the methods of the transfer of Lorraine, accepted by a declaration of François III of Lorraine of December 13rd, 1736.

The voter of Saxony, Auguste III, is maintained on the throne of Poland, on which Stanislas Leszczyński gives up any claim.

In compensation, Stanislas receives Lorraine and the Duché of Bar, which with its death must return to France, which was the case with died of Stanislas on February 23rd 1766; he preserves the title of king.

The duke of Lorraine François III, which has just become engaged to the archduchess of Austria Marie Therese, girl of the emperor Charles VI, sees himself offering the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, which gift Carlos gives up, wire of Philippe V of Spain and Elisabeth Farnèse, in exchange of Naples and of Sicily, that the Emperor yields to him: gift Carlos becomes thus king of Deux-Siciles and inaugurates the dynasty of the Bourbons of Naples.

Lastly, the king of Sardinia obtains Novare and part of the Milanese, and Elisabeth de Bourbon, oldest daughter of Louis XV, married Philippe 1 {{er}}, Duc of Parma, brother of gift Carlos: it is the re-establishment of dynastic alliance between France and Spain.
