Treaty of Strong Laramie (1851)
The treated of Strong Laramie of 1851 was signed on September 17th between the Indian the United States of America and nations Sioux, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Crow, Shoshone, Assiniboine, Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara.
By this treaty, the US government left the control of the Grandes plains with the Indians and annually paid a sum of five thousand dollars during fifty years in exchange it right to build roads and forts on the Indian territory as well as the unrestricted passage of the colonists on the Piste of Oregon.
This treaty opened one short period of peace.
