Summary of the contents
This treaty puts an end to the Guerre of American independence in 1783. By this treaty, the Great Britain recognizes the independence of its Thirteen Colonies and the territory until the the Mississippi grants to them. The province of Quebec thus loses the southern part of the Big lakes which it had obtained by the Acte of Quebec of 1774. The merchants of Montreal who had counters of draft in this area were to evacuate them in the two years following the treaty. The question of the borders was not completely settled. One had intended oneself to make pass the border as one can see it today, that is to say in the middle of the Big lakes, the Lake Michigan being entirely in American territory. However, in the west of the Higher Lake and between the Quebec, the New Brunswick and the Maine, the question will be settled later.
