Treaty of Nertchinsk
The Treated of Nertchinsk (Chinese: 尼布楚 Pinyin: Níbùchǔ) is a treaty concluded between the Russia and the Empire Qing and the first treaty between China and a European power. It was signed the September 6th 1689 (August 27th of the Calendrier Julien) in the small town of Nertchinsk, following a military conflict whose stake was the area of the river Amour.
According to this treaty, the Russia lost the access to the Mer of Japan, but established commercial relations with China. The Russian fortress of Albazine, which had been a source of conflict between Russia and China, was abandoned and shaven.
The border established between Russia and China was to follow the Monts Stanovoï and the river Argoun. The treaty was translated into five languages: the Russian , the Manchu , the Chinese, the Mongolian and the Latin , of the Jesuits serving translators.
The clauses of the treaty were revised, with the profit of Russia, by the Traité of Aigun of 1858 and the Traité of Beijing of 1860, which fixed the Russo-Chinese border about such as it is today.
The Chinese signatory was Songgotu, acting for the Qing emperor.
