The treated of Campo-Formio was signed the October 17th 1797 (26 vendémiaire year VI) between Napoleon Bonaparte, general-in-chief of the French Army in Italy and the count Louis de Cobentzel, representing the Austria. It makes following the preliminary of Leoben the 7 and April 18th 1797: it puts an end to the First coalition and victoriously concludes the first countryside from Italy of Napoleon Bonaparte.
By this treaty, the France appendix the Belgian provinces (Austrian Netherlands) and pushes back its border on the the Rhine whereas the Austria acquires the Venezia.
The treaty was signed the October 17th with the Manin Villa, with Passariano, commune of Codroipo, residence of summer of the last Doge de Venise, Ludovico Manin. It was gone back from the October 18th and Campo-Formio (today Campoformido, small village of the the Friuli to the doors of Udine) because of the équidistance of this locality between the Manin Villa, where Bonaparte resided of at the end of August at the end of October, and Udine, seat of the Austrian command.
The Traité of Lunéville confirms in 1801 the annexation of left bank of the the Rhine.
