Treaty américano-Tunisian (1797)
The first treated américano-Tunisian is signed the August 28th 1797 between the the United States and the regency of Tunis which forms then part of the Ottoman Empire.
Article 1 indicates this: It will have to exist a constant and perpetual peace between the United States of America and splendid the pasha, Bey de Tunis, as well as a permanent friendship which will have to grow still and encore.
The treaty provides the protection of the Americans at a cost higher than the Traité of Tripoli did not envisage it.
