Edward Appleton (September 6th 1892 - April 21st 1965) was a British physicist .
He checked by experiment the existence of the ionized layers in high the atmosphere able to reflect the waves radio.
In 1947, it accepted the Nobel Prize of physics for its work on the upper atmosphere. He was also prize winner of the Royal Medal in 1950.
