Trap of Karoo

The Traquet of Karoo ( Cercomela schlegelii ) is small a alive Passereau in the zones Aride S in the west of the Southern Africa. According to the traditional Classification, it belongs to the family of the Turdidés, but according to the philogenic classification of Sibley, it belongs to the Muscicapidés.

Description

This bird measures between 16 and 18 cm length and weighs approximately 32 Gram S. slender Allure, rather typical of sparrow Insectivore resembling a Fauvette. Small Nozzle fairly lengthened, long legs adapted to the released grounds. There exist two Morphe S:

  • morphe sinks: back, wings and dark head gray, clear russet-red cheeks. Rémige S black primary educations and tail. Gorges, gray chest and white belly. Nozzle, irises and legs black.

  • morphe pale: back, wings and head clear brown-gray. Chest, belly and white throat. Primary education tail and rémiges gray sinks.

Distribution and habitat

He lives in the undergrowth, tall grasses and the rock zones in the Désert S and the arid regions. Its Aire of distribution includes/understands the extreme south-west of the Angola, the west and the south of the Namibia and center it and the west of the South Africa.

Behavior

Very active, Diurnal. Various Insecte S is nourished: butterflies, Fly S, Wasp S, Bee S, Fourmis… Lays between 2 and 4 greenish egg S in a Nid in form of various vegetable cut made up of matter and posed on the ground, generally under a bush.
