National company of railroad : CP (Caminhos ferro portugueses). The rail network is managed by Refer (Rede ferroviaria nacional). INTF (Instituto nacional C transports ferroviario is an public agency in charge of the regulation, control and development of the Portuguese railway system.
The privately held company Fertagus, subsidiary of the group Barraqueiro obtained the concession for the construction and the exploitation of the southern subway of Tage (MST) (which includes the crossing of Tage on the bridge of 25-April in exploitation since 1999).

To note: in Lisbon, the bridge “Vasco-of-Gamma” which crosses the mouth of the Tage is the largest suspended bridge of Europe (inaugurated in 1998). Overall length: 17,185 km, range of the principal arch 420 Mr. the bridge of April 25th, another suspended bridge, built in 1966 have a principal span of 1013 m and support a road and railway apron.
Public transport : the pricipales cities of the country are connected by services of Autocar S express train, federated in a single organization: Rede Nacional de Expressos, created in 1958.
