Cars
The Sens of circulation is on the left. Historically, that would be due to the fact that the Samurai (droitiers in majority) were not to shock to them saber while moving on the roads. While rolling on the left, the sabers are found on the side external of the road.
Trains
With the Japan, the railways are the principal means of transport of the passengers, and particularly to quickly transport the many passengers between the various major cities, but also for transport between the cities and their suburbs, and inside the cities like Tōkyō or Ōsaka.The exploitation of the railway network is shared between many private companies and the regional companies resulting from the bursting of the JNR (Japanese National Railway). The companies resulting from the JNR bear the name of JR (Japan Railways) followed by a regional qualifier. JR-Hokkaidō, JR-East, JR-Exchange, JR-West, JR-Shikoku and JR-Kyūshū. The service of the shinkansen is ensured by the various JR. Tokaïdo is exploited by JR Central, Sanyo by JR West, Tohoku by JR East and Kyushu Shinkansen by JR Kyushu. JR Shikoku and JR Hokaido do not have (or not yet) of Shinkansen.

The railway network is relatively dense. The main axis skirts the peaceful coast binding the urban centres of Tōkyō and Kyōto - Ōsaka via Nagoya, extending to north and the south. The equipment is famous modern being, of quality and maintained well, and the service is perfectly specific.
The network is mainly established with the reduced spacing of 1067 mm, called “Metric English” or “Cape Gauge”, except for the lines at high speed.
Japan has its own type of Train at high speed, the Shinkansen. It was the very first train at high speed of the world. Since its opening in 1964, it is the backbone of transport in Japan, but the tickets are relatively expensive, their prices approaching those of the plane. The overall length of the railroads is of 23 670,7 km including 7.000 km dedicated to Shinkansen.
