Transplants

The Transplants are a group of Punk American rock'n'roll . Its members acquired, before the formation of the Transplants, a share of celebrity and respect within the punk scene.

The group is born in 1999 when Tim Armstrong, of Rancid, makes listen with his/her friend and faithful technician of rounds, Rob Aston, of the pieces which it had created by using the program of music Pro Tools. This occasion, Tim asked Rob if he wanted to give the responsability himself to write words. At the beginning, Tim played of all the instruments itself, but when the project became extensive, it invited friends musicians, Matt Freeman and Lars Frederiksen of Rancid, like Vic Ruggiero of The Slackers to contribute to the project. Then, Tim and Rob decided to form a group officially and required in 2002 of Travis Barker of Blink-182 to join them as a beater.

In the beginning, Tim wanted to draw its musical inspiration from the scene Speed garage, London while working with Loop S and Sample S.

The music of the Transplants is a combination of Hip hop, Reggae, low Drum N, Dub, and of punk, but this set is not mixed at the same time in all the songs. Although all these musical styles are found in this album, the punk one and the Rap dominates, the other kinds being added in supplements. As for the texts, Rob Aston describes their songs like tackling subjects like the murder (" Quick Death") until the broken friendship (" We Trusted You"), while passing by the love (" Sad Drank True").

After two years of recording, they leave their first album Transplants on Hellcat Records in October 2002. At the end, the album entirely was recorded and mixed in the basement of Tim. Moreover, it contains the special appearance, as vocalists of Eric Ozenne (Nerve Agents), Davey Havok (AFI), Danny Diablo, Lars Frederiksen (Rancid) and Brody Dalle (The Distillers, ex-wife of Tim). Brody sings in " Weigh One My Mind" , that Tim describes besides like " their chanson".

The individual ones, " Diamonds and Guns" and " D.J. D.J." , quickly became " favorites" on MTV and quickly propelled the group towards a very great business success. The song " Diamonds and Guns" and its air of piano hooker, played by the Co-producer Dave Carlock, attracted new fans when it was used for a publicity of shampoo Garnier Fructis. Their success was still concretized when they made a round with the Foo Fighters.

In 2005, following the hiatus of Blink-182, Travis Barker decided to turn over to work with the Transplants and +44, a parallel project with Mark Hoppus of Blink. The second album of the Transplants, Haunted Cities, left in June 2005.

Since the Transplants separated, but Travis and Rob are committed whole in a new project, Expensive Taste, in company of the rappeur/DJ Paul Wall.
