The transmission mitochondriale describes the process by which the genetic material of the mitochondries is transmitted parents to children. Often responsible for the diseases mitochondriales.
Since the embryo which will become the child is first of all resulting from a maternal cell - the ovule - the transmission of the DNA mitochondrial is done only of mother with child. The spermatozoon contributes indeed by no means to organelles of the first cell diploïde. This last brings only its nuclear genetic material to the embryo.
The transmission mitochondriale thus does not follow the traditional rules of transmission mendélienne.
